Sight Word Activities for Kindergarten- Color by Sight Word

Hello Friends!

Today I am posting about fun activities you can do with your students to help them learn their sight words! These activities can be completed with a whole group of students, with a partner or individually while at a literacy work station center, during guided reading, or have a parent volunteer pull students! I have also sent these activities home for parents to work with their student.

The first activity I am posting is Color by Sight Words! This activity is better to save towards the middle to three fourths the way through the kindergarten school year. Students will need to be able to read and identify beginning sight words, as well as, read color words. **My students have a name tag at their table with each color word. I have taught mini lessons on how to use those resource.

1. First I have my students color in the key at the top of the page.

2. Next I show my students how to search for one word at a time.
They should try to find every time that word is on the page.

3. I encourage my students to color a large area around the sight
word to help make the picture, but some students
may just color in a tiny area of the word! :)

Here are some of the finished products!

This activity can be found in two of my sight word packets in my Teachers Pay Teachers store!
